Villar denies endorsing cryptocurrency program

MANILA, Philippines —  Businessman and former Senate President Manny Villar on Tuesday denied he was endorsing a cryptocurrency program following posts that circulated in social media claiming he was introducing the program.

The social media post also allegedly encourage people to join cryptocurrency so they can be rich “within three to four months.”

“I wish to warn the public about a false social media posting claiming that I endorsed a cryptocurrency trading program. This is fake news,” Villar said in his Facebook page.

“I have never made any such endorsement nor have I engaged in the said bitcoin trading program.”

Villar added that the report was “obviously a scam,” and asked the public to “protect themselves from such unscrupulous act.”
