Numerous bitcoin bomb threats reported nationwide, including in Rochester area

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Police are investigating after a bomb threat was made against an apartment building in Rochester.

RPD spokeswoman Jackie Shuman says the department received an email threat at 1:12 p.m. against 80 St. Paul Street — the H.H. Warner Lofts. However, officers say the threat doesn’t appear to be credible.

She says an investigation is underway.

The threats come as a number of bomb threats have been emailed out nationwide, according to multiple reports. In the Buffalo area, authorities tell WIVB threats were made at Ellicott Square Building, Catholic Health and 42 Delaware Avenue.

A threat was also made against Niagara University.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office says a number of threats have been received in Monroe County, similar to the nationwide emails:
