Upbit Indonesia cryptocurrency exchange intends to list Klay — Kakao’s cryptocurrency — on sept. 26. In addition, The Korea Times, a South Korean news outlet, reported on Sept. 25 that UpBit Singapore also had the intention to list Klay at a later future date.

An official of the South Korean instant messaging giant Kakao highlighted:

“We decided to list Klay on cryptocurrency exchanges in the respective countries, as we aim for Klaytn to become an Asia-based platform.”

Own virtual currency for Kakao

As the largest internet conglomerate in South Korea, Kakao dominates about 90 per cent of the mobile application market. In late 2018, the company’s plans to use Ground X to raise $300 million for the development of Klay were first announced.
