A Jersey-based cryptocurrency firm says it has been targeted by a ‘friendly hacker.’

Binance, which trades in digital currencies like Bitcoin, says the ‘white hat hacker’ managed to access their Twitter account by posing as their domain name service provider.

The hacker then posted several tweets before deleting them.

The company says the hacker was ‘cooperative’ and that no data or funds were compromised in the attack, but that they will be investigating it further.

White hat hackers, also known as ethical hackers, use their skills to target companies’ computer systems in order to highlight weaknesses in their cyber security.
