HODOR wants you to “hodl”.

Kristian Nairn, who played friendly giant in Game of Thrones, has appeared in a tongue-in-cheek ad for Israeli-based cryptocurrency brokerage eToro.

The Irish actor plays himself in a meeting with his agent discussing advertising offers — all of which require him to say his catchphrase from the HBO show.

For non-Game of Thrones fans, Hodor can only say the word “Hodor”. The reason why is explained in the show’s sixth season.

“I’ve had it,” he says. “No more saying that word ever again. I’m a serious actor. I have depth. Why can’t you get me something with an office, with a tie?”

The ad then shows Nairn filming an ad for eToro, holding open the doors of a lift full of officeworkers panicking about crashing cryptocurrency prices, as he repeats the word “hodl”.

Hodling, originally a drunken mispelling of “holding”, is a meme used by cryptocurrency investors to describe the mentality of refusing to sell despite crashing prices.
