Inspired by her own bushfire experiences as a child, Sydney-based cryptocurrency queen Michaela “MJ” Juric has decided to use her skills to help others affected by the fire crisis.

Growing up in the small town of Silverdale, at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, MJ and her family were caught up in the 2001 Black Christmas fires that burnt more than 750,000 hectares through the Cessnock, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith areas.

“Bushfires have always been an emotional soft spot for me,” Ms Juric told AAP.

“While we thankfully did not lose our home, being such a close-knit town, it was hard to watch friends and community members lose homes, businesses, pets and livelihoods.

“You watch the coverage of it on the media, and you see the desperation in people’s faces, that they just want to go home.”

The owner of Bitcoin Babe’s work involves the selling, trading and investment of cryptocurrencies, with a particular focus on Bitcoin.
