Cryptocurrency scam sees Melbourne couple lose retirement savings

An elderly couple has issued a heartfelt message after they were caught in a cruel Cryptocurrency scam that cost them the entirety of their retirement savings.

Mike Taylor and his wife Karen were enjoying their retirement, travelling Australia in a campervan, when they were caught up in the online scam.

Taylor said the Cryptocurrency trading website looked legitimate and initially delivered a high return.

But then their entire $900,000 investment disappeared in a matter of months.

“That was the whole of our superannuation – That’s now gone,” Taylor told 7NEWS.

The bus driver is now returning to work at 70-years-old and is also selling his beloved 1965 Pontiac to make ends meet.
