“Google Ads disapproved.”
Earlier this year, Google updated their Financial Services advertising policy, announcing a blanket ban on all crypto-related adverts on its platform from 1st June 2018. The official announcement read:
“Ads for the following will no longer be allowed to serve … Cryptocurrencies and related content (including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice.”
The announcement created a ripple effect across the world of digital advertising, with other big names like Facebook and Twitter quickly following suit to ban crypto-related ads.
June came and went and we started to believe the saying, “no news is good news”. Maybe no news really was good news and Google had changed their mind? Unfortunately, however, at the end of July, we received the news we had all been waiting for… “Your Google Ads have been disapproved.”
