Bogus gas men and Bitcoin fraud: The scams reported across Lancashire during lockdown

Communities across Lancashire a rallying together to support each other during the hardships of lockdown.

House windows are covered in rainbows and NHS support signs can be seen throughout the red rose county.

But a number of criminals are still doing their best to scam honest people across Lancashire.

Lancashire County Council’s Trading Standards has received several reports of rogue traders charging too much for repairs, issuing an alert on some of the work people should be watching out for.

£12,000 for groundwork and fences

In Fleetwood, a lady agreed to groundworks and fencing.

But after the work wad completed, she was charged an eye-watering £12,000.

This amount has been deemed too excessive for the amount of work being carried out, the county council said.

Resident told to repay £18,000 Bitcoin takings

Be wary of telephone scams where the caller states you can claim money back for previously paid investments, Trading Standards has warned.
