Bitcoin suffers big fall since March

Bitcoin slipped to a 13-month low, falling below the $6,000-level and posting its largest drop since March with other cryptocurrencies also heading south.

The cryptocurrency fell to a low of $5,324 in late US trading on Wednesday, ending the day down 10.6 per cent, according to the Refinitiv data tracking the Bitstamp exchange. Bitcoin continued lower on Thursday, down 1.1 per cent at $5,533.90.

Ethereum, the second-largest digital currency by market capitalisation, was down 14 per cent over the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
