Dehradun: The main accused in the murder case of Abdul Shakoor, the mastermind behind the infamous Rs 485 crore Bitcoin scam, was arrested in the Prem Nagar area of Dehradun on Tuesday.
The accused Mohammad Aashiq, as Malappuram (Kerala) resident, had come to Dehradun to surrender before the court. Earlier on August 30, the Dehradun police had arrested five persons, who were also allegedly involved in the murder.
Aashiq told the police that he left his education midway and came in contact with Shakoor who owned two firms – BTC BITZ COIN SHUKKOR and BITZEX. Aashiq claimed that he reaped good profits by investing in Bitcoin initially and he invested around Rs 13 crore in Shakoor’s bitcoin company. However, Shakoor’s firm soon started running in losses and Aashiq hatched a conspiracy to get the information about the passwords from him.
